Developer and placemaking expert LCR has announced ten new recruits across its offices in London in Manchester as it expands its portfolio of regeneration projects and regional strategic partnerships.

The new hires, which include two senior development managers, five development managers and two new recruits to its Independent Land Advisory (ILA) team, will support the delivery of a number of major schemes across the UK. These include Waterloo.London, LCR’s £200 million retail scheme at Waterloo station, the transformation of Leeds South Bank, the 1,000,000 sq ft commercial redevelopment of the Axis site in Birmingham, and International Quarter London (IQL), its £2.4 billion joint venture development with Lendlease.

Nick Smithson, Elena Kosseva and Sian Stanhope each join the London team as development managers. Nick joins from Arup, and brings 8 years of experience in planning and project management. Elena moves from BPP Regeneration, where she was senior development consultant. And Sian is formerly of Barnsley Council, where she acted as project manager for the town’s regeneration schemes, and will work on the delivery of LCR’s transformation project in Leeds.

Also in London, chartered surveyors Tom Lewin-Smith and Sam Stokes both join as senior development managers. Tom joins after six months acting as an independent property consultant, having previously worked for Berkeley Group as a commercial development manager. Sam is formerly a senior development surveyor at Starnes plc.

Emily Johnson and Barnaby Samuels each take on the role of ILA Coordinator. Both join from WSP, where they acted as an assistant land consultant and land referencer respectively.

LCR has also recruited a new marketing coordinator, Catarina Neumann. Catarina joins from logistics provider Agility, based in Portugal, where she acted as global marketing coordinator.

In Manchester, LCR welcomes James Howard and Alex Bowker as development managers.  James joins after spending two years with the Caymans Islands Government as a graduate valuation officer, while Alex moves from Beech Holdings, where he acted as development surveyor.

The hires follow the opening of the firm’s permanent base in Manchester in January, where key projects include the delivery of the £850 million Mayfield regeneration project.

In addition to its new recruits, LCR has also announced the promotions of Adam Wisher, Ray Willis, Catherine Birks and Nick Clough from development manager to senior development manager.

Adrian Lee, development director at LCR, said: “There has never been a more critical time to accelerate the provision of housing and top quality infrastructure in the UK, and the expansion of our team reflects our commitment to championing creative placemaking and unlocking regeneration opportunities across the country. Our unique position as a bridge between the public and private sectors means we are ideally placed to bring together and collaborate with key stakeholders, bringing forward developments that help towns and city centres reach their full potential.

“Our new recruits bring with them a range of vital skills and expertise in land assembly, master planning and development, and we very much look forward to welcoming them to the team.”

LCR is a skilled commercial developer and the UK Government’s placemaking expert, with a track record of creating exciting new destinations for people to live, work and experience.

Wholly owned by the UK Government, it has a 20-year track record of delivering major transport-linked regeneration schemes, including the multi-billion-pound redevelopments of King’s Cross and Stratford City – two of London’s most successful regeneration stories.
